The official store for the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX – Beginning – early theatrical release of the anime series will appear in Japan at the Bandai Namco Cross Store Atre Akihabara. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

The Gundam GQuuuuuuX – Beginning – store will appear on February 2 and will remain open until April 10, 2025. A second edition will also appear between April 11 and May 18, 2025. Other Japanese locations for the store are planned, including Osaka between May 25 and June 22, 2025, and the Hakata Ward in Fukuoka from June 28 to July 21, 2025.

Additionally, some of the merchandise goods sold at the store will be on sale from the Namco Parks online store. More items are planned to be added at a later date, and some of the characters in the goods haven’t been revealed to avoid spoilers.

A new One Piece cover song album is now available for pre-order in Japan featuring songs from artists Hiroshi Kitadani, Ado, and a variety of other musical artists. Kitadani announced the release of the new album, which will come out in Japan on March 26, 2025. [Thanks, Oricon!]

The album includes 11 songs and will be available in a normal edition for 3,300 yen (or about $21.26) and a deluxe edition for 5,500 yen (~$35.43.) Additionally, the jacket for the deluxe edition features an illustration drawn by author Eiichiro Oda. The songs included in the album are various One Piece opening theme songs, as well as the songs from movies One Piece The Movie: Dead End no Boken and One Piece Film: Red.

Square Enix announced the release of the Crystalline Resonance: Final Fantasy Piano Collection album. The CD gathers 10 piano arrangements of Final Fantasy songs played during 54 different concerts across 46 cities throughout 2022 and 2023.

The album costs 3,300 yen (or about $21.10) and is now available for pre-order from the Square Enix online e-Store, Amazon Japan, and various other retailers, including as a download.  Additionally, Square Enix previously announced that the album would also release in North America and Europe, where it still appears marked as a pre-order, and where is marked for $28.99/€24.99‎.

Sanrio announced the release of new line of merchandise featuring Hatsune Miku dressed as characters My Melody and Kuromi to celebrate Snow Miku 2025. The goods are now available for purchase and are being sold exclusively in Hokkaido, Japan.

The new Snow Miku costumes are matching outfits inspired by gothic lolita fashion as well as the color schemes of both Kuromi and My Melody. The full sized Hatsune Miku designs and costumes were designed by artist Nou (@nounoknown on X) while the super deformed chibi designs used in the merchandise were created by artist Hiyori Asahikawa (@asahikawa33 on X.)

Marvelous revealed the release date for Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma as May 30, 2025. The game will appear on Steam a day later. Additionally, the upcoming issue of the weekly Famitsu magazine will include a 16-page feature on the game revealing new details. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The Japanese voice actors for the main protagonists have been revealed, with Subaru being played by Junya Enoki, Kaguya being played by Yui Ishikawa, and sidekick Mokoron being played by Ai Kakuma. Additionally, some of the 12 romanceable characters were also introduced. These include Hina, a mysterious archeologist voiced by Shiina Natsukawa in the Japanese dub; the skybound adventurer Mauro, and the vibrant tea house worker Iroha.

The Famitsu feature will also include an interview with Director Shiro Maekawa delving into how the new Rune Factory spin-off came to be and what were the goals set by the development team. Furthermore, the gameplay loop of the Rune Factory series will be explored, and details about the new aspect of "Dance" in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will be explored.

The game was originally revealed on the August 2024 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase with a 2025 release window and a trailer introducing the protagonists and the Japanese-inspired land of Azuma.

The Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma release date is set for May 30, 2025. The game will come out for the Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam a day later.

Bandai Spirits announced that the Kingdom Hearts Linking Hearts Ichiban Kuji merchandise lottery will return and once again include a Sora figure as the top prize. The campaign will appear at select convenience stores throughout Japan from May 23, 2025 and each entry costs 790 yen (or about $5.)

Square Enix revealed that Dragon Quest X Offline will release for Android and iOS mobile devices on January 15, 2025 in Japan. The game will also offer The Sleeping Hero and the Guiding Ally expansion released in May 2023 as a separate purchase.

The main game costs 2,800 yen (or about $17.73) while the expansion costs 2,400 yen (~$15.19.) Both will be on sale until January 28, 2025 for 1,960 yen (~$12.41) and 1,920 yen (~$12.16) respectively.

Dragon Quest X Offline originally released in Japan and Asia on September 2022. It is based on the Dragon Quest X MMORPG released in 2012, and intended as a traditional single player experience with a customizable protagonist and set recruitable party members. Square Enix has expressed no intention of localizing the offline version of the game since its release.

Square Enix also developed a mobile version of the Dragon Quest X Online game in collaboration with NTT DoCoMo and it released via cloud streaming services on December 2013.

Dragon Quest X Offline is available in Japan for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC via Steam, and now Android and iOS mobile devices.

In a recent interview, Dynasty Warriors: Origins Producer Tomohiko Sho, Director Mitsuhiro Oshima and Programmer Masamichi Oba talked about the newest title in the series and how the team worked on a different canceled Dynasty Warriors game before Origins. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

When asked about when development for Dynasty Warriors: Origins started, Sho said it was during the latter half of 2021, since the team was near the end of development for Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires. Sho added that the development of Origins started with the idea of "going back to basics" as the core concept, as recent titles in the franchise had evolved to favor a more fast-paced combat in contrast to the tactical gameplay the series started with

Oba added that, before development of Dynasty Warriors: Origins started, him and Oshima started working on a numbered Dynasty Warriors game. This would have been Dynasty Warriors 10. The gameplay of this canceled title was an extension of the direction taken with Dynasty Warriors 7, with the game featuring a large number of playable characters.

Oba also said that some of the ideas in the canceled title made it into Origins. He gave a few examples, such as making the game easier to understand for those unfamiliar with the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and exploring the story at a deeper level. Additionally, the world map featured in Origins was also something planned for the canceled numbered title.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins will come out on January 17, 2025 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. You can read our review of the game here.

The latest trailer for Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster focuses on Pilika, a young girl that lives in Toto Village with her family. During the second game, Pilika and her family took care of Jowy after he nearly drowned in a river, and she sees him as family.

In the new Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster clip shared, Jowy thanks Pilika's parents Marx and Joanna for taking care of him. Pilika then asks Jowy and the protagonist to talk to them in private and requests their help to find a gift for his father’s birthday that she saw while visiting Muse city.

With the release of the new remaster quickly approaching, Konami has recently been sharing more clips and trailers showcasing the Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster, such as a video of Neclord, and Riou and Kasumi visiting Rokkaku Hamlet.

Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars will come to the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on March 6, 2025. The original games appeared on the PlayStation worldwide. They also appeared together in a collection on the PSP in Japan.

Good Smile Company revealed new Persona 5 Royal merchandise goods including bags that look like Joker and Akechi’s school uniforms. Pre-orders for the items will open on January 20, 2025 from the Good Smile Company online store.

The Akechi and Joker cosbags (or cosplay bags) cost 4,180 yen (or about $26.51) each. Additionally, the other goods announced include a Morgana-shaped pouch that costs 2,200 yen (~$13.95) and a set of soft and fluffy hairpins for 1,760 yen (~$11.16.) The hairpins are available in 2 different versions, one designed after Joker and the other one after Morgana.

Joker and Akechi have been featured wearing their regular clothes and school uniforms in a variety of merchandise, including the recently announced P5R Nendoroid of Goro Akechi in his uniform. A similar P5R Nendoroid of Joker in his school uniform previously released in October 2024.

Good Smile Company will open pre-orders for the new Persona 5 Royal Joker and Akechi school uniform bags, Joker and Morgana soft hairpins, and the Morgana pouch on January 20, 2025. Persona 5 Royal is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch, and PC.

Various Sony Stores throughout Japan are currently holding a new collaboration with the popular action-adventure game Infinity Nikki featuring Sony’s Grid Scent. The Grid Scent will allow players to experience floral and forest scents inspired by the environments of the world of the game.

The collaboration will be available until February 3, 2025 at the Ginza (Tokyo,) Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka Tenjin Sony stores. As part of the event, the stores will also be decorated with Infinity Nikki ornaments, and will offer trials of the PS5 version of the game. The Grid Scent experience will be offered via a demo video of Infinity Nikki, and will not be available during gameplay.

The Grid Scent is a new prototype technology being tested and developed by Sony with its Tensor Valve odorant control technology. The system allows people to experience digital spatial aromatherapy while engaging in other activities, such as gaming. Infinity Nikki is an action-adventure game with dress-up elements. It is the fifth title in the series and the first open-world entry.

As a reminder, developer Infold Games recently revealed some of the changes and quality of life additions that are planned for Infinity Nikki.

Infinity Nikki is available on the PS5, PC, and mobile Android and Apple iOS devices.

Nintendo shared more information about some of the new characters, areas, and quality of life additions introduced in the second trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. This came up both in Japan and the US social media account.

The trailer showcased a new Skell mech named Hraesvelg, as well as its unnamed pilot. While the identity of the new Xenoblade Chronicles X character remains a mystery, they seem to be friendly towards the protagonist. The mech was also shown in the trailer transforming into a unique jet during flight, and it carries a weapon reminiscent of a Japanese katana.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Nintendo website revealed that one of the new characters appearing in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is called Neil Nail. She shares her name with the Neilnail Albus and Neilnail Furvus special Skell bosses that appeared in the original Wii U release and seems to be connected to them somehow. Nintendo also showed the new “floating continent” area added to the game.

Some quality of life improvements were shown. These include the Follow Ball system, which allows players to find objectives easier and is similar to the navigation system that appaeared in the main Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy. Furthermore, the new “Quick Recast” system reduces the time needed to cast Arts (skills) during combat.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will come to the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2025. The original version of the game also appeared on the Wii U.

Square Enix released two new bunny plushes based on Ciel and Sebastian from the Black Butler: Public School Arc anime series. Each plush costs 3,300 yen (or approximately $20.87) and they are now available from the Square Enix online e-store.

The new plushes belong to Square Enix’s Bitter Rabbit line of soft toys. The Ciel bunny plush has a gray fur coat and black eye, with his right eye covered by a white eyepatch. The plush is wearing a small top hat and the black uniform of the Weston College. Ciel is also wearing a blue brooch on his left lapel inspired by the Weston College Sapphire Owl, also known as the Blue House.

Meanwhile, the Sebastian bunny plush has a white fur coat and red eyes. He’s wearing glasses with retainer straps. The plush’s clothes are modeled after the Blue Owl housemaster attire that Sebastian wore during the Public School Arc of the series, characterized by a long professor coat and floaty gray overcoat. Additionally, the Sebastian plush features a bead rosary adorned by a silver cross.

As a reminder, an anime sequel to the Public School Arc season titled Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc was announced on July 2024 and is currently in production with a 2025 release window.

The Black Butler bunny plushes cost 3,300 yen (~$20.87) each and are now available for purchase in Japan. The Black Butler: Public School Arc is available on Crunchyroll and the manga is handled by Yen Press.

Megahouse announced a re-release of the Persona 5 Royal Lucrea figure of Joker. The figure costs 24,200 yen (or approximately $153.19) and will release in Japan on late June 2025. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

Additionally, pre-orders for the figure will open on January 10, 2025 at 1pm JST. This version of the Joker figure will include a special acrylic stand inspired by the “Showtime” move that was introduced in P5R. Additionally, the new acrylic pedestal allows Joker to be posed alongside the Lucrea figure of Crow (Loki version.)

The static figure features Joker in a dynamic pose holding a knife backwards on his right hand. Extra parts are included with the figure, such as a hand part that allows Joker to hold a gun, and his Phantom Thief mask.

The original figure was revealed on January 2022 with a release date set for August of the same year. Other P5R Lucrea figures have appeared, such as a figure of Makoto Niijima and Futaba Sakura in their Phantom Thieves outfits.

The Persona 5 Royal Lucrea figure of Joker costs 24,200 yen (~$153.19.) Pre-orders open on January 10, 2025 in Japan, and its expected release date is late June 2025. Persona 5 Royal is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch, and PC.
