It is finally time for the official announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2. While the short two-minute trailer of the new Nintendo console’s reveal is pretty light on the games, we actually know quite a bit about some of the upcoming software for the new system. Here are all of the Nintendo Switch 2 games we know about so far.

New Mario Kart
Above all else, perhaps the most anticipated officially known Nintendo Switch 2 title is none other than what appears to be a new Mario Kart game. It could be Mario Kart 9 or Nintendo could opt for a new naming scheme for this particular game. Regardless, it seems to be a brand new game and not a port of an older title like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
This new Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart shows off a brand new desert-themed map with a Yoshi diner. We can see new looks for characters like Donkey Kong that is more themed around the Super Mario Bros. Movie. In addition, there are 24 starting spots seen on the track, which could indicate up to 24 players per race. We have no release date for this title for now but given this game’s prominence as the only reveal in the first Switch 2 trailer, we expect this to be a launch or launch window game.

Super Mario Wonder and Backwards Compatibility
In addition to new games like the upcoming Mario Kart, there will be older games for Switch 2 as well. The Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with almost all original Switch titles. There are some, though, that may not work due to their specific functionality and the like. This means your library of physical and likely digital games will carry over to the new hardware. One of the confirmed backwards compatible games is Super Mario Wonder.

All Other Previously Announced Nintendo Switch 2 Games
In addition to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart, here are all of the other Switch 2 games that we know about from reveals in the past:
- My Time at Evershine
- Bestiario
- Yooka-Replaylee
There are also some games rumored to come to Switch 2 from sources like NatetheHate who accurately predicted the announcement of the console on January 16, 2025. Those games include the likes of Final Fantasy VII Remake, FFVII Rebirth, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Metal Gear Solid Delta, Halo: The Master Chief Collection from Microsoft, and more. It is also possible that upcoming 2025 original Switch releases will also feature Switch 2 versions like Pokemon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will release sometime in 2025. Fans will have the chance to check it out around the world in April and May 2025.
